A Roman lutenist by birth and by soul, he began playing classical guitar at the age of six, but soon realized it was not his instrument.
At eighteen, he took up the lute and earned his degrees with distinction in Italy and Germany.

Simone Vallerotonda performs internationally as a soloist and continuo player with the most renowned baroque ensembles.
He has recorded five albums for the Arcana label: three with his beloved trio I Bassifondi, a baroque ensemble he founded in 2014, and two solo albums, dedicated respectively to Giovanni Zamboni (L’ultimo romano, 2016) and to the French repertoire (Méditation, 2022).
