Pieter (Piet) Jongeling (31 March 1909 – 26 August 1985) was a Dutch journalist, resistance fighter, politician and children's book writer. He wrote children's books under the pseudonym Piet Prins.
Under the pseudonym Piet Prins, Jongeling has written more than sixty books, mainly for young people. The best known is the nine-part children's book series Snuff the Dog, about a sheepdog who experiences all kinds of exciting adventures. This series was made into a film for the Evangelical Broadcasting Company and is called Snuff the Dog in wartime. He also wrote books about the war, such as the "Daan en Sietze" series (consisting of three volumes) and the four-part series "Holland under the swastika", which was also published as an omnibus. Furthermore, the "Wambo" series (three parts) that takes place in the present-day Indonesian province of Papua (formerly Dutch New Guinea) and about how the Christian mission goes there.
Other well-known children's books by Piet Prins are The Four Friends series (five volumes), the Jeroen and Joost series (four volumes), the Sheltie series (consisting of three volumes) and the three-part series 'Expelling the tyranny over the Eighty Years' War', later adapted into a five-part comic series. A number of books have been translated into English, such as the Four Friends series (as the 'Four Adventurers' series); the Holland under the swastika series (as the 'Shadows' series) and 'Wambo' ('Wambu').
Piet Jongeling died at the age of 76.
