Rineke is a so-called all-round musician: she is a singer, oboist and accompanying pianist. She is a singer-songwriter with Vocal Group Filiae, among others. In addition, she conducts, arranges and composes, writes articles about the field of musicology, is a vocal coach and gives business and private workshops.
'As a conductor, songwriter and arranger, I benefit enormously from the knowledge I gained during my studies, but I also got a taste for making music again at the conservatory. The academic approach is valuable, and you also have to feel, experience and transfer music. You can make up in your head how something should sound, but when you actually hear it in real life... Then the goosebumps come!'
In her youth and student days, Rineke played oboe with various youth orchestras, sang in choirs, played the piano, and started her career as a conductor at the age of seventeen. After high school, she chose to study Musicology at the University of Utrecht. A research master's degree in 'Theory of Music' at the University of Amsterdam - in combination with lessons at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (majoring in Music Theory) - eventually made her a 'Master Of Arts'.
