Petimara Borsje was born on February 20, 1985, in Krimpen aan den IJssel. She began playing the flute at the age of fourteen and took lessons with Desirée Twigt. She soon knew the flute was what she wanted and also took lessons with teaching musician Kees Alers. At seventeen, she was asked to accompany the Christian Krimpen Men's Choir, along with other soloists. Her preference is for sacred and classical music. Petimara also studied for two years at the Bourdon School of Music. She also plays in the Crescendo Symphonic Wind Orchestra in Krimpen aan den Lek. Finally, she also teaches beginners on recorder and flute.
