Catherine the Great was a famous tsarina, influenced by absolutism and the Enlightenment. From a German princess she grew into one of the most famous queens of the Russian tsarist empire.
She was an intelligent, shrewd and at the same time extremely charming woman. She brought many builders from Germany to the Eastern Bloc.
The descendants of these builders came into contact with God's word around 1967 and later through workers of Friedensstimme Nederland.
Around 1990-1993 many of these former Germans remigrated to West Germany.
They settled in and around Mariënheide with the help of the German government.
These so-called Baptists formed a locally established church unit.
Together they played various instruments and this orchestra was put together from that.
