Niki de Vlaming
More than 104 times played this month
I am Niki de Vlaming, born in 1993 in Enschede. At the age of 6, I started taking violin lessons with Anke Lefferts. I played with great pleasure as concertmaster in Symfonia Junior and later as concertmaster in Symfonia Jong Twente. After that, I joined the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and later decided to turn my hobby into my profession. I studied classical violin in Amsterdam with Lex Korff de Gidts for my bachelor's degree and with Maria Milstein for my master's degree.
At the moment, I work as concertmaster at Van Wassenaer Consort, a chamber orchestra that accompanies choirs. Together with pianist Katie Yao Morgan, I form a duo. Furthermore, I have always been interested in other styles. For instance, I am the principal second violin in CineMusic, a film orchestra. I play with DJs. I enjoy improvising. This year, I did a Christian church tour with hardstyle DJ Sefa across the Netherlands.
I work as a violin teacher at the music school De Muzen in Veenendaal. I also have my own teaching practice in my hometown, Deventer.
