Niels Willemsen developed a strong affinity with music at a young age. His musical career started with the local brass band in Voorthuizen, where he specialized in playing the flugelhorn. Within this association he obtained several diplomas and was taught by Pier de Jong, a valued music teacher who accompanied him both within the brass band and in his private life. This personal and intensive guidance laid a solid foundation for his further musical development.
When Niels started his studies, it was no longer possible to continue to actively participate in the fanfare due to lack of time. After his farewell to the fanfare, he made the switch from flugelhorn to cornet, an instrument that has played a central role in his musical activities ever since.
Despite ending his active participation in the fanfare, Niels remained closely involved in musical life. In particular, he focused on accompanying choirs and congregational singing during various performances and meetings in the Netherlands.
In recent years, he has become increasingly active in this field. He is regularly involved in the musical support of various choirs and makes an important contribution to singing moments together on various occasions.
