My name is Nick Verkerke, born 2008 in Sint-Philipsland. I started making music when I was 6 years old, this just started very simply with a keyboard from Lidl. I also took lessons with someone who lives in the village. After 2 years of lessons, my teacher thought it was time for me to look for another teacher because she couldn't teach me anything anymore. Then I ended up with pianist Anne-Marith Boone. She then told me about the conservatory, what it was, what I could do with it, and that I could possibly go there if I wanted to. Since then, I don't want to do anything else than turn my hobby into my profession. I now have pianolessons from Sarah Oudshoorn, she prepared me to audition at Codarts Lyceum in Rotterdam. That is the HAVO preparatory course for conservatory at the conservatory. I auditioned for both pop and classical, I could be accepted for pop but unfortunately I wanted to go too much in the classical direction and I didn't make it to the audition.
Now I mainly play at concerts in the church, and I accompany an occasional choir and a children's choir.
