Michael Barth received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Toronto, where his dissertation research focused on the repertoire for solo trumpet and electronics. This research provides a comprehensive overview of the repertoire’s compositions, composers, styles, and history, while exploring the aesthetic and practical aspects involved in the performance of this music.
Prior to receiving his DMA, Michael received his Master’s degree in trumpet performance from the University of Toronto, and Bachelor’s degrees in trumpet performance from the University of Victoria and physiology from the University of Saskatchewan.
A versatile performer, Michael performs on both modern and baroque instruments as a solo, orchestral, and chamber musician with a variety of organizations in the Toronto area.
