Les Muffatti was founded in 1996 by young Brussels musicians to specialize in Baroque orchestral music, emphasizing musical enjoyment, exploration, and attention to detail. After ten years under Peter Van Heyghen, the ensemble took over artistic leadership in 2014, working with guest musicians and soloists. They perform both well-known masterpieces and lesser-known or rediscovered works.
The name refers to Georg Muffat (1653–1704), a composer who distinguished French and Italian styles. Their debut recording focused on his work, and their discography now includes eight acclaimed albums.
Their recording of Keiser’s Brockes-Passion with Vox Luminis won three Belgian awards, and their latest Bach concertos album has received international praise, including the Diapason d’Or and Klara Award. Les Muffatti is supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
