Klára Würtz was born in Budapest in 1965. Since the age of 5 she has been playing the piano and made her professional debut as a soloist of the
Hungarian Children's Choir of Radio & Television. By the time she was 14 she toured in Greece, Italy and Japan.
In 1979 she was taken at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest to study with Mrs. Máthé at the gifted-children faculty. Later on she continued her studies with Zoltán Kocsis. In 1985 she won the First Prize in Milano at the E. Pozzoli International Piano Competition and she was a finalist in 1988 at the GPA Competition in Dublin, Ireland.
She took masterclasses in England from András Schiff with a scholarship offered by him. In 1989 she competed her studies with a concert-pianist & teacher's diploma. As of 1990 she has given over 100 concerts in 38 states of the U.S.A. and Canada both with orchestras (Warsuw Soloist, Czech- Philharmonic) and in recitals. Her succesful debut took place at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C. and at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. After her concert in 'La Roque d'Antheron' in Southern France the 'LE MONDE'
wrote the following; 'no musician sounds more inspired than Klára Würtz. She made numerous recordings for the American, Canadian, French, Dutch and the Hungarian Radio and Television. At present she resides in the Netherlands. She can also be heard playing Béla Bartók on CD released by 'Globe'.
