Julien Chauvin’s imagination was caught at an early age by the Baroque revolution and its revival of performance on period instruments; this led him to pursue his studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands.

He had long wished to revive a renowned 18th-century ensemble and was able to realise this ambition with the founding of Le Concert de la Loge in 2015; he also continues to perform with the Quatuor Cambini-Paris, founded in 2007. He has prepared and conducted several operatic works, including Lemoyne’s Phèdre, Isouard’s Cendrillon, Haydn’s Armida, Mozart’s Entführung aus dem Serail and Sacchini’s Chimène ou le Cid; he has also been engaged as guest conductor by the Esterházy Hofkapelle, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Limoges, the Orkiestra Historyczna in Katowice, the Folger Consort in Washington, Les Violons du Roy, the Kammerorchester Basel and the Gürzenich-Orchester in Cologne.

His extensive discography of works by Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Berlioz has met with acclaim and awards from the international musical press (Diapason d’or, Choc de Classica, Gramophone); he records for the Alpha, Naïve, Aparté, Eloquentia and Ambroisi labels.
