Jos Jansen began his conservatory studies when he was 21. In 1989 he graduated as a teaching musician (Zwolle) and in 1991 as a performing musician (Hilversum). During his studies he was already accepted as a bass trombonist at the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The premiere of Typical JJ, with the Royal Harmony Pieter Aafjes conducted by Heinz Friesen was the start of Jos Jansen's solo career. Peter Kleine Schaars wrote this work, which features classical and light music, especially for Jos. Since then, Jos has performed as a soloist with amateur and professional orchestras at home and abroad. He has also released several CDs on which he can be heard as a soloist. In addition to his many conducting positions, Jos Jansen also practices as a bass trombonist at the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, from which he retired in mid-2014. Other orchestras also regularly enjoy his participation. As a soloist he continues to improve his bass trombone playing. 'The extension of my emotions', he calls his instrument. In 1993 his first CD was released: "Blue Topaz".
