Jolanda den Houter, born in Dordrecht, received her first recorder lessons at the age of six. Six years later, she chose the oboe and took lessons at the Toonkunstmuziekschool in Dordrecht, where she also followed the preparatory course for the Conservatory.

When she was sixteen, she began studying at the Brabants Conservatory, where, under the guidance of Frank Minderaa, she obtained her diploma 'teaching musician' in 1994. She also took courses in choral conducting and teaching children's choral conducting.Currently,

Jolanda gives private oboe lessons. She also performs as a soloist in choir concerts and CD recordings. During Sela's Easter tour in 2016, Jolanda had the opportunity to play her oboes. In addition to the oboe, she also plays the alto oboe, oboe d’amore, recorder, and tin whistle. Unique in the Netherlands, Jolanda also plays the baritone oboe, a beautiful instrument with a lovely warm deep sound.
