John Vanderlaan was born in Holland but immigrated to Canada in 1975. He received organ lessons from Fred Numan, Lyn Harry, John Laing and Andre Knevel. Since 1976, he has been the organist at the Christian Reformed Church of Ancaster, Ontario, where he resides with his wife and three sons. John is also the regular organist of the Hosanna Choir in Dundas, Ontario, with whom he accompanied at various times before becoming its regular organist in 1989. John is an assistant manager for a national men's wear store in Ancaster, and considers himself a "hobby" organist. He achieves great pleasure in sharing his talent with those who attend the various musical events and church services that he participates in.
