The Belgian cellist Johannes Burghoff comes from a family of musicians. He studies at the conservatories of Liège and Strasbourg with Marise Douin and Marc Coppey. He attends masterclasses with Janos Starker, Anssi Karttunen, Roland Pidoux, Jean Deplace, and Marin Cazacu. In 2004, he brilliantly obtained his diplomas in cello and chamber music.
Chamber music is his great passion. In addition to his own international music festival in Geldenaken, established in 2011 with pianist Maiko Inoué, and his piano trio "Mistral" formed in 2002, he travels the world performing with renowned musicians such as Maiko Inoue, Tatiana Samouil, Alissa Margulis, Philippe Graffin, Anne Cambier, Mario Caroli, Aldo Baerten, Marcio Carneiro, Olivier Piguet, Pablo Marquèz, Misha Besverkny, Diederik Suys, Tony Nys, Sheva Tehoval, and others on famous stages such as the Tonhalle in Zurich, Lincoln Center in New York, Arts Center in Seoul, and Victoria Hall in Geneva.
Since 2014, he has been the cellist of the Prosperus4 string quartet.Johannes is the cellist of the ensemble 'Linea' in Strasbourg and the orchestra 'Le Concert Olympique' in Antwerp.He plays a cello by the renowned violin maker Januarius Gagliano from 1733.
