The award-winning Irish Baroque Orchestra (IBO) is Ireland’s leading ensemble for historically informed performance. Under the artistic direction of Peter Whelan, the ensemble combines historical research with musical excellence, bringing Baroque and Classical music from Ireland and beyond to life.

Since the founding of the Irish Baroque Choir in 2023, the IBO has further strengthened its artistic profile, including a performance at the BBC Proms in 2025. Through research, concerts and recordings, the ensemble focuses on rediscovering Ireland’s musical heritage and making it accessible to audiences in Ireland and abroad.

The IBO regularly performs at leading international festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival and MA Festival Bruges. It also invests in the next generation of musicians through the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra and its Apprentice programme.

The Irish Baroque Orchestra is supported by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Culture Ireland and Dublin City Council, and is based at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
