The Hineni Symphony Orchestra was officially founded in 2011, after a period of growth and musical collaboration within various projects. The orchestra derives its name from the Hebrew word "Hineni" – "Here I am" – as an expression of dedication, commitment, and service. With a unique combination of craftsmanship and passion, the orchestra brings music that connects the rich Jewish and Israeli culture with the Western symphonic tradition.
Since its founding, the orchestra has given concerts throughout the Netherlands, including in Rotterdam (De Doelen), Apeldoorn, Drachten, Urk, and Nijkerk. It regularly performed in collaboration with choirs such as the Holland Choir and organizations like Christians for Israel. Highlights included, among others, the anniversary celebrations of 70 and 75 years of Israel and the Dutch premiere of the Israeli Dances by composer Marc Lavry.
During the corona years, the orchestra remained active with adjusted rehearsals and online musical initiatives, including a Christmas greeting in 2020. From 2022 onwards, the concert series resumed, with a growing audience and new musicians and board members joining the orchestra. In addition to performing concerts, the Hineni Symphony Orchestra structurally supports the Hineni Center in Jerusalem, under the leadership of Esther Voet, through financial contributions from the proceeds of the concerts. In this way, the orchestra aims not only to make music but also to convey a message of hope, connection, and solidarity with Israel.
