Herman Reijers was born in 1954 in Delft. He got his love for the organ from his father. He was the one who encouraged him to take organ lessons at a young age. Mr. Jan Baarda, organist of the Herv. Church in Culemborg, was his first teacher. During his secondary school education he continued his organ studies with Klaas Boersma, organist of the St. Jan in Gouda. After secondary school he returned to Culemborg where Bert Lassing, who had been appointed organist of the Grote Kerk in the meantime, continued his instruction. In the meantime Herman accompanied the services on Sundays. In 1974 he continued his organ studies with Carel Chr. Schulz, then organist of the Oosterkerk in Utrecht. He assisted Carel for many years as a registrar and also accompanied his choirs. His last teacher was Willem Hendrik Zwart, organist of the Bovenkerk in Kampen. Since 1973 he has been the regular player of the beautiful Naber organ in the Reformed Church in Rumpt.
