Harry Bicket is internationally renowned as an opera and concert conductor, particularly acclaimed for his interpretations of Baroque and Classical repertoire. Since 2007, he has served as Artistic Director of The English Concert, one of Europe’s leading period orchestras. He has also been Chief Conductor of the Santa Fe Opera since 2013 and became its Music Director in 2018.
With The English Concert, he has led numerous international tours of Handel operas, including Alcina, Ariodante and Theodora, as well as widely praised performances of Bach’s Mass in B minor and Handel’s Samson. Recent projects include live-streamed concerts, a staged Messiah at the Bristol Old Vic, and recordings for labels such as Virgin Classics, Chandos and Harmonia Mundi.
Born in Liverpool, Harry Bicket studied at the Royal College of Music in London and at the University of Oxford.
