Gerdien was born in Ede and has been living in beautiful Zeeland for quite some time now. She was involved in music from an early age. There was a lot of singing at home and her father accompanied on the organ. That's what she wanted too. At the age of seven she started taking organ lessons. After seven years she was a bit done with it (just calculate how old she was then). Still, the music continued to appeal. In the fourth grade she got space and desire again, but a different instrument. That became the clarinet, with lessons with Johan Jacobsen and the learning orchestra Musicamara. When she started studying to become a Music in Education class, these clarinet lessons stopped, and she chose it as a minor (Ruben Duarte; Bart de Kater). She majored in classical singing (Renee Harp; Pierre Mak) and after two years it became classical piano (Jan Hoitink).

All instruments aside, Gerdien likes to make music together much more than to solo. In the course of choral conducting (Hans van de Brandt; Sven Keet), a world opened up for her.
She felt it: This is what I want!
As a graduation project, Gerdien organized a very successful educational choir day. As a conductor she is associated with the Youth Choir Jedid-jah in 's-Gravenpolder and with Project Choir Petra. As assistant conductor she is associated with Chantez a dieu in Tholen. She also works as a music teacher at the Calvin College locations Klein Frankrijk and Stationspark.
In short: Gerdien is an inspired teacher and conductor. Are you looking for a conductor for your choir, would you like to collaborate on a project or are you interested in workshops? Don't hesitate to contact us!
