Feike de Vries
More than 1.321 times played this month
I, Feike de Vries, was born on November 2, 2012, in Yerseke. My biggest hobby is playing the organ and listening to music; I am also very interested in different church organs. At the age of 1.5, I was already crawling over the pedals of the organ, and it became even more interesting when the pedalboard was removed and the organ bench was taken away, allowing me to play the organ from the pushed-up children's chair. At Christmas 2015, to the amazement of my parents, I played "Ere zij God."
I also went to concerts with my father at the age of 3, such as the Organ Festival of Minne Veldman and Marco den Toom in Zwolle. On the way back to Zeeland, I was blissfully sleeping in the car, but upon arriving home, I still had to play the organ to replay what I had listened to that evening. In the shed, we had a harmonium on which I also played a lot. My parents often searched for me, and it turned out that I could once again be found at the organ bench of the village church. My father taught me Klavarskribo, which gave me more structure in playing the organ, which benefited me, as he is also my registrant.
Even so, that doesn't take away from the fact that I love to improvise. I have been able to play many beautiful organs, just last October at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in The Hague. I was so happy when I heard that I had won the video submission at Excellent Recordings; the recording in Westzaan was also my first official recording. My wish is to become a church organist and to accompany singing evenings.
