Born in Buenos Aires in 1977, after graduating in guitar and lute (Buenos Aires and Basel), Evangelina Mascardi spent many years playing and recording with the most important early music ensembles (including Hespèrion XXI, 415, Il Giardino Armonico, Zefiro, Monteverdi Choir), later dedicating herself to solo repertoire, which she performed throughout Europe.
In 2011, she recorded the solo album Ferita d’amore with music by 22 Bellerofonte Castaldi for Arcana. In 2019, she published Milano spagnola, a project dedicated to the instrumental music of the early 16th century. In 2022 her recording of the complete works for lute by Johann Sebastian Bach proved to be a critical success, obtaining, among others, the following awards: Diapason d’Or, Choc de Classica, Excepcional Scherzo, The Record Geijutsu.
Evangelina teaches lute at the Santa Cecilia conservatory in Rome.
