Eeuwoud Koolmees was born on April 29, 1969 near Rotterdam. After primary school, he wanted to do something in electrical engineering. After the Lower Technical School and the Secondary Technical School, he could not yet go to work, because conscription still existed at that time.
So he was allowed to wear the green army uniform for a year and a half, to serve as a sergeant in the Armored Infantry. And in hindsight, that was quite a fun time.
After military service, Eeuwoud started working in the automation industry. For more than ten years he has worked in the computer business with great pleasure and commitment, but then he wanted to do something different.
In the evenings, in the meantime, he had followed the teacher training course for Dutch Teacher. First as a pure hobby, but later also with the aim of really going for the class. A few years ago, Eeuwoud made the switch to education and now works as a Dutch teacher at a secondary school.
When he was about twenty years old, he wrote his first book. This is the book 'To the land of their fathers'. And after that one book, more soon followed. At first only novels for adults, but especially in recent years mostly children's and youth books.
Eeuwoud is married and has five children: two girls and three boys. His children often inspire him to write his children's books. Eeuwoud sometimes incorporates the things they experience somewhere in his stories.
The things he experiences with the students at school often give him inspiration as well. The stories are everywhere every day! Centuries old, all she has to do is write them down.
In addition to writing books, Eeuwoud also works as a contributor to the children's magazine BimBam, in which he writes short stories.
