Duo Virtuoso
More than 448 times played this month
Duo Virtuoso, consisting of Mark Brandwijk and Reinier Korver, brings classical music to life with four hands on organ, piano, and harmonium. The duo performs in all combinations possible with these keyboard instruments. The duo’s repertoire is classical and boundary-pushing, with core values: professional, accessible, and surprising. For their repertoire, the duo regularly writes arrangements and transcriptions of existing works. The very first spark for the collaboration as Duo Virtuoso was given in 2010. On October 14, 2011, the duo gave its presentation concert in Heusden. Duo Virtuoso annually performs various concerts across the country. A highlight is the New Year’s concert held every last Saturday of January in the Grote or St. Catharijne Church in Heusden (North Brabant). During this traditionally well-attended concert, guest musicians are invited. Over the past years, the duo has collaborated with groups such as the Roder Boys' Choir and the Brass Band Practice and Relaxation and top musicians such as harpist Joost Willemze, violinist Elise Besemer, and trumpeter Maurice van Dijk.
Duo Virtuoso owns a unique 7-stop Debain/Rodolphe harmonium from 1890. This special instrument was restored in two phases by harmonium restorer Louis Huivenaar. Since then, the duo regularly performs with this instrument.
