Christian Jongepier (born in 2000) has been playing the cornet since the age of six. His first lessons were given at home by his father.**
His first teacher at the Zeeland School of Music was Leon Valkenburg, and since August 2013 he has been studying with Tiny van de Wijdeven. During his A-exam in 2011, he was immediately placed in the Talent Class. He is currently in the third year of pre-university education (VWO-3) at CSW Van de Perre.
Christian plays in the Serooskerke brass band and with Delta Brass Zeeland, a brass band made up of top musicians from the province of Zeeland and western North Brabant. In 2013, he participated with this orchestra in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade and in the French Open Brass Band Championships in Amboise, where they won first place.
In March 2014, Christian was a prizewinner at the Princess Christina Competition in Rotterdam. Together with his younger brother Tijmen, he was a finalist in a talent show in Middelburg; they performed under the name *Mexican Trumpets*.
Christian regularly gives concerts, both as a soloist and in ensembles. Together with his brother and parents, he forms a quartet that has performed on the EO television program *Nederland Zingt*.
