The Christian mixed choir "Harpe Davids" (based on the Reformed Church in Hardinxveld-Giessendam) was founded in 1985 by a very small group of enthusiastic people who gathered weekly to sing psalms and hymns around the harmonium. The goal was to improve their singing of unfamiliar psalms and thus support the congregation in their Sunday congregational singing. These "pioneers" could never have imagined that this initiative would grow into a medium-sized mixed choir for girls and children (95 members). "Harpe Davids" is characterized by the large number of young people and children it has in its ranks.
The choir rehearses weekly under the direction of Frans Cornet, who has conducted the choir with great enthusiasm and skill since 1988. A newsletter, "Harpgeluiden," is published three to four times a year, keeping members and donors informed about the activities of the "Harpe Davids" choir.
