Audrey van der Jagt applied at the age of fifteen to the youth radio broadcaster Minjon, part of the AVRO. At Minjon, she presented various programs. From the age of nineteen, she worked for three years as a radio announcer. In the late 1960s, she got married, which—according to the custom at the time—led to the termination of her permanent contract with AVRO, after which she continued as a freelancer.
Van der Jagt worked as a freelance journalist, including as an interviewer for political parties and as a presenter at NCRV. Between 1973 and 1975, Van der Jagt presented the NOS Journaal. After that, she joined TROS as the presenter of the radio program Coulissen, a show about theater and theater makers. She did this for nearly fifteen years and also produced several other programs for TROS.
She later returned to AVRO in the late 1980s, where she initially resumed her role as a radio announcer. In the 1990s, Van der Jagt presented several programs for AVRO, the most prominent and long-running being Fiori musicali, a show focused on medieval music, and Easy Listening, which she took over from Tosca Hoogduin. In addition to her radio work, Van der Jagt also lent her voice to television programs as a voice-over.
