Arno van Wijk studied Organ and Church Organ Playing at the Utrecht Conservatory and the Dutch Institute for Church Music. His teachers included Jan Raas, Willem Tanke, Jan Welmers, and Bernard Winsemius.
He took masterclasses with Michel Bouvard, Peter Bares, Charles de Wolff, and at the International Summer Academy in Haarlem with Jean Boyer, Ben van Oosten, and Olivier Latry. He has also occasionally taken organ lessons from Ton Koopman and Charles de Wolff.
At the National Organ Competition for conservatory students in Leiden (1996), in the Romantic category, he won first prize. In 1998, he was awarded first prize at the N.C.R.V. Brahms/Schumann Competition held in the Grote- or St. Laurenskerk in Rotterdam. His organ playing has been broadcast several times on the radio, with recordings made in the Grote- or St. Laurenskerk in Rotterdam, the St. Petri Cathedral in Bremen, and the O.L.V. Church in Breda.
Arno van Wijk is the organist of the Grote or Maria Magdalenakerk in Goes, where he plays the Marcussen organ from 1970. As of October 1, 2012, he was appointed city organist of Goes.
