Ariëtte van Wijngaarden received singing lessons from Dr. Pieter Vis

Concert singer Dr. Hc. (Mus.) Pieter Vis, bass-baritone, is also active as a musicologist, music publicist, producer and conductor. He was born on 18 May 1949 in Rotterdam and performed as the 'famous Rotterdam boy soprano' in the sixties. He performed as a soloist with the Rotterdam Boys' Choir of Freek Velders and the Wiener Sängerknabenchor conducted by Prof. Hans Gillesberger. He received his classical singing training from the soprano Iza Valeton-Maas Geesteranus and the alto Annie Hermes. He followed various song interpretation and opera courses with the Viennese pianist Geza Frid, the singer Marie-Cécile Moerdijk, the bass-baritones Herman Schey, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Ruud van der Meer and Bernard Kruijsen. After obtaining his diploma in solo singing (1977), he won several first prizes at national and international singing competitions. This bass-baritone performed in approximately 500 church concerts during his 50-year singing career and was accompanied by renowned organists and pianists including Feike Asma, Simon C. Jansen, Stoffel van Viegen and Daniël Wayenberg.
