Arie Horst was born in Wapenveld in 1940. Organ lessons were started at the age of 8, followed by piano lessons. At the age of 10, he was allowed to conduct his first worship service in the Reformed Church in Wapenveld.
He subsequently worked extensively with various choirs as an accompanist during performances and concerts. Later in life he focused on writing choral arrangements and parts for instrumental soloists. In 1987, one of his wishes came true: to lead a choir.
A second choir has now been added. He regularly combines both choirs to participate in special church services and music evenings. He has also been leading a Song & Praise band in Zaandam for several years. In daily life he works as Head of Training at the Sigma Coatings paint factory in Amsterdam. He considers music to be an essential part of his life.
Arie passed away in April 2018
