Adri Poortvliet, born on 25 January 1948 in Nieuw-Beijerland, has been the conductor of the 'Gereformeerd Kerkkoor Ridderkerk' since 1977. Not only does he regularly collaborate with this choir in church services, but also in concerts, radio and TV recordings in combination with Adri Poortvliet's other choirs, namely the Christian Mixed Choir 'Asaf' in Puttershoek, the 'Strijens Christian Mixed Choir' and the regional 'Christelijk Hoeksewaards Mannenkoor'. He is also the organist of the Gereformeerde Kerk in Puttershoek and regularly performs as an accompanist for concerts and communal singing evenings on organ and piano. He is also active as a soloist, such as on this CD where he takes care of the tenor and bass parts. With this recording, one of his greatest wishes has come true, namely recording the 'Marcus Passion' by Hans Boelee on CD.
