Ad Wammes studied composition with Ton de Leeuw, Theo Loevendie, and Klaas de Vries, piano with Edith Lateiner-Grosz, and electronic music with Ton Bruynél. His organ piece "Miroir," published by Boosey & Hawkes, marked his international breakthrough. Honorable commissions from Norway (a mass for the city of Stavanger), Sweden (a work for soprano saxophone and organ for the 4 duo Paulsson & Canning), and England (a work for cello and organ for the Svyati Duo) followed. Wammes is currently working on a three-part educational series for piano, entitled "Different Colours," the first two volumes of which have been published by De Haske. Previous piano work has been published by Schott. He wrote about his composition "GlasWerk": "There was something to celebrate, because the VVMG was celebrating its 25th anniversary. That means: festive, colorful music with a modern touch (Friends of Modern Glass) and a strong connection to glass." In my composition 'GlasWerk' I connect the glass carillon (De Zingen Toren) with all kinds of sounds that glass artists make when producing their objects/products.
